In Finland, translators started a social media platform in autumn 2009. It has been very successful and the site is slowly being translated into English as well. Visit it at http://www.av-kaantajat.fi/in_english/. The Finnish AV Translators' Forum was founded in an effort to connect the rather dispersed freelance translators.

This was essential due to the fierce competition between translation companies that was having had a negative impact on the whole field. The forum was successful in bringing together the wide majority of Finnish AV translators quickly. It has since developed into a comprehensive website about everything related to audiovisual translating and AV translators' changing situation in Finland.
