12th FIT Forum: Challenges, New Roles and Ethics in Legal Translation and Interpreting

Continuing its tradition, the FIT Legal Translation and Interpreting Committee organized its twelfth FIT International Forum on the topic “Challenges, New Roles and Ethics in Legal Translation and Interpreting” in cooperation with the Colegio de Traductores del Perú, in Lima, October 7 – 9, 2015. Four Peruvian universitie – Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón (Unifé), Universidad Ricardo Palma, Universidad César Vallejo and Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas – drove the efforts to host this major gathering of translators, interpreters  and  terminologists  on  the  Unifé  Campus.

Held for the first time outside Europe, this specialized event designed to encourage exchange among experts and for experts surpassed all expectations. Not only was the event successful in delivering on its main promise to set development prospects for legal translation and interpreting based on initiatives from local and international specialists; it also offered remarkable opportunities for sharing, learning and inspiring  actionable ideas.
